location shoots

I filmed in a few locations including inside my house and the park outside at night the park gets dark and after rain there are some large puddles this gave plenty of places to run through and hide for some shots. By filming inside my house it shows that it isn't safe and there killer can get anywhere.

Character outfits: killer

In some scenes I was also the killer i wore a long black coat to cover most of me. Under it I am wearing a jumper on backwards to use the collar as a mask and black jeans to go with the coat this hides my appearance and allows me to blend into the darkness in some of the scenes with the killer this makes it harder to recognize me as my other character is a victim and not the killer so it needs to be hidden.

Character outfits: Unnamed friend

During the trailer I performed 2 roles one was as an unnamed friend of the protagonist. I chose clothes that were favorites of mine, looked casual and were what someone would wear normally.

Ancillary Task: Movie Magazine final

Now featuring the killer on the cover with a few added effects to darken and give a smoke like quality for effect.

Ancillary Task: Movie poster original

My original movie poster was different to the final version in quite a few areas. As shown the original version was portrait and was mostly black and white but when looking at other posters I wanted to subvert the usual design and decided to turn it on it's side quite literally by making the final version landscape. Then to go along with the word Blood in the movies name I decided to re-colour the text blood red and made sure to make that colour stand out in the photograph I added during further editing.

Ancillary Task: Movie Magazine step 2

This is a much more developed version of my magazine cover just lacking the main photo I decided to use a lot of dark red to look like blood to go with the horror genre as well as use black and white for sharp contrasting text to compliment it. The names used are all upcoming horror films and famous horror directors to show knowledge of the genre.

Ancillary Task: Movie magazine step 1

This is an early plan of what I wanted the magazine cover to look like with just a few ideas on how things would be arranged around the page. The background which i also used in my poster was downloaded for a general grey concrete wall look that with editing makes it look very different.

Research: Editing

At the beginning of this project I had little to no experience with After Effects, to fix this and to help improve our trailer I found a tutorial series on Youtube to help show how to make different effects both in-camera and digitally. The tutorials showed me how to create tone cards, how lighting effects the tone of the footage, how to kill someone with out them being hurt and a few other useful tricks for future projects.  For any one else interested in learning some useful tutorials here is a link to the channel.
